According to the National Golf Foundation, 1.9 million (7.4%) of 25.7 million golfers in the U.S. were 70 and older in the U.S. were 70 and older in 2011. Among 14.4 million "core" golfers, defined by the NGF as those who play a minimum of eight rounds per year, 1.6 million (11.1%) were 70 and older.
Why do so many seniors play golf? There are many reasons, first of which is it's a great way to keep active! A day of golfing can improve circulation, strengthen the knees, and burn calories- all while being very low risk for injuries.
This knowledge is what led Veranda of Pensacola to add a putting green on the property. Our practice green is one of the most popular features of the community.
